02 Application engineering
Applications
01
Industrial main distribution
A main switchboard receives the transformer supply and feeds production lines, motor control centers and plant services. Busbar loading, prospective short-circuit current and coordination between incoming and outgoing protection determine the electrical arrangement. Feeder access and spare ways should support maintenance and planned expansion.
02
Main switchboards for buildings
In offices, hotels and campuses, the main switchboard supplies risers, floor distribution boards and large mechanical loads. The load schedule defines feeder duties, metering and circuit allocation. Multiple supplies require a defined transfer and interlocking scheme; room dimensions, cable routes and maintenance clearances govern the physical layout.
03
Extensions to existing distribution
New process equipment or additional building loads can require extra feeders or replacement of a main board. Existing drawings, fault levels, busbar interfaces and cable sizes must be checked before designing the extension. Available space, isolation arrangements and the agreed shutdown sequence shape how the new section connects.

04 Construction and options
Construction & configuration options
Circuit functions
Incoming, outgoing and bus-coupling panels organise the main supply and distribution feeders in one lineup.
Construction & access
Fixed and withdrawable arrangements differ in isolation, access and unit replacement. The selected arrangement follows the documented assembly design.
Protection & metering
Feeder protection, metering and status indication connect each circuit to its load and protection requirements.
Busbar & cable routing
Busbar routing and cable entries organise the main supply and outgoing connections within the panel.
Control & interlocking
Auxiliary circuits, interlocks and supervisory signals support the operating sequence of the switchboard.
Enclosure & separation
The cabinet layout organises functional units and maintenance access. Enclosure protection and internal separation follow the selected assembly design.
05 Applicable standards and requirements
Standards & engineering
Project specification
Provide the applicable standard editions, destination requirements and tender specification.
Rating schedule
Keep the electrical ratings and installation limits linked to the selected model.
Verification documents
Identify the required inspection records, test reports and acceptance criteria.
Supply scope
Separate the panel assembly, component schedule, engineering drawings and inspection requirements in the quotation. Availability and deliverables require confirmation; requested options do not confirm inclusion.
How do fixed and withdrawable arrangements differ?+
Fixed units remain installed during maintenance. Withdrawable units use removable functional assemblies; access and isolation arrangements belong in the layout.
Can one lineup include several panel functions?+
Yes. Select the incoming, outgoing and bus-coupling functions in the configurator and identify the required quantities on the SLD.
What should I send for feeder selection?+
Send the feeder schedule, load currents, protection requirements and SLD. Include spare circuits and any component preferences.
